I'm your host, Michelle Orbitz, and before we dive into today's episode, if you've been enjoying this podcast and it's brought you clarity or comfort on your fertility journey, I would be so appreciative if you took a moment to leave a review on Apple Podcast or Spotify.

It truly helps other women who may also be feeling lost or overwhelmed, find the support they need. Now, today's episode touches on something I believe isn't talked about nearly enough in the fertility spaces, and that is the energetics and emotional wisdom of the womb. If you've been trying to conceive and you're doing all the things, tracking ovulation, taking supplements, changing your diet, but still feel like something deeper might be holding you back, you're going to wanna stay with me.

'cause your womb is more than just a place of physical [00:01:00] creation. It's an energetic center, A space that holds not only life, but also emotion, memory, trauma and deep creative power. And when we begin to reconnect to the space through meditation, movement, and even the act of simply listening, we begin to unlock a different kind of fertility.

One that is rooted in safety. Softness and self trusts. We'll also explore how ancient traditions and even modern science, like what's revealed in the body, keeps a score, are showing us just how deeply the body store's emotional experience and how this can affect your conception. So whether you're actively trying to conceive or just feeling called to deepen your relationship with your womb, this episode is for you.

Welcome to the Wholesome Fertility [00:02:00] Podcast. I'm Michelle, a fertility acupuncturist here to provide you with resources on how to create a wholesome approach to your fertility journey.

Michelle: So I'm gonna talk about your womb, not just as a physical organ, but as a creative portal. Across many ancient traditions throughout history, the womb has been seen as a sacred center of life, not just for babies, but for dreams, healing, and inner wisdom. In Vedic philosophy, they refer to the golden womb, which is what birthed the entire cosmos.

And in Chinese culture, the archetypal guang, the goddess of compassion, is often pictured holding a vase. That represents the womb pouring healing waters into the world. She's considered to be a protective of mothers, children, and emotional restoration. These stories remind us that the womb is not [00:03:00] just functional, it's spiritual, emotional, and deeply wise.

And guess what? Modern science backs this up in the book. The body keeps the score. Dr. Bessel VanDerKolk explains that trauma doesn't only live in our memories. It lives in our bodies. For many women, unprocessed, grief, shame, trauma, or fear gets stored in the pelvic bowl, AKA, our womb, and when that space is tight.

Guarded or disconnected, the body may not feel safe enough to open for conception. I wanna emphasize that this does not mean you are broken. It means that your body is protecting you until it feels safe again. So ultimately, that is what Womb Healing is all about. I. It's about creating a space of safety in your body so that your womb can release unprocessed emotions.

And oftentimes we have this, not just in our womb, but so many places in our bodies, and I find this a lot with my patients at work. Oftentimes we work on really [00:04:00] releasing a lot of blocks energetically and physically through the body in Meridians, and I oftentimes see people who have experienced a lot of trauma.

Or grief in their past, release a lot of emotions while the energy in their meridians are being released. This is because there is a physical and somatic process to our emotions and how we are able to process. Sit through our bodies. So the fact that the emotions are there doesn't mean something's wrong.

It just means that we stored something in our body, that when it's safe, it is able to release, and when it's able to release, our bodies can come back into their optimal state. In traditional Chinese medicine, there's a lot of reference to a vessel called B Mai. So the uterus connects to the heart and it also connects to the kidneys.

Through another vessel called bowel luau. So those are the two vessels that feed the uterus. And I've spoken in the past about how the kidneys play a really important role on [00:05:00] conception, but the heart is also really important and it connects directly to the uterus. So a lot of times we will hold energetic blocks in the heart as well, and when we have those energetic blocks, it directly impacts.

The state of our uterus. So the heart's role in the uterus is to open the uterus. So think about the times that we're opening. The uterus would be during our periods or monthly bleeds, so it's opening the uterus to let the blood out. It also opens the uterus when a woman is ready to go into labor, and it also opens the uterus when a woman is ready to conceive.

Interestingly enough, we see that oxytocin, which is considered the love hormone, and it really is a. Hormone that has US connect, which really represents kind of a heart hormone, is increased around the time of ululation. And it also increases right after orgasm or connecting with your partner. And to me, nothing happens out of order with nature.

And so there must [00:06:00] be some kind of impact on oxytocin 'cause it also makes the uterus contract around that time that can support the uptake of sperm. So to me, this is kind of like a physical representation of the heart opening the uterus. So when I personally see patients, I don't just look at their physical body, I look at their emotions and how they impact their bodies.

And what I find is the longer a person has those energetic and emotional blocks, the more embedded they become in our bodies. And sometimes that means that it might take a little longer to release those. But that being said, it's not impossible at all. What I also find is creating a. State of neutrality and nervous system.

Regulation in the body also induces a very good healing state, and it allows the body to feel more safe. When the body feels more safe, the womb automatically reflects that feeling of safety. So there's a couple of ways in which we can induce that state of healing. And really nurture [00:07:00] the womb. And one of the ways is through visualization.

Many studies have shown that visualization actually has a very direct influence on neuro physiology. They've seen this with athletes. When people imagine eating lemons, they salivate, which is an involuntary response. It is a response that directly connects with the visualizations that we're having. So I personally suggest doing visualizations a lot because they are an untapped asset that most of us don't even realize that we can use.

So oftentimes I suggest to do something kind of physical and mental. So having your hands. Wherever your hands go is usually where you focus your energy. So you can have your left hand on your heart space and then your right hand on your womb, and you can close your eyes and start to imagine a connection between the two, and you can really visualize.

The energy under both areas. And one of the things that you can do too is breathe through the [00:08:00] heart, which is a tool often used by HeartMath Institute in order to create heart brain coherence. When you have heart brain coherence, it creates a state of peace and calm, and also while you have your hand on your heart.

You could bring up images of people that you love or feelings that you have with them. And this could be even holding a pet or anything that you really feel brings you that warm and fuzzy feeling in your heart center. So you can induce that and cultivate that. And imagine that energy just increasing more and more in the heart.

And as you're feeling that feeling, bring that energy down into your womb, almost like your womb is sucking it through a straw. So really imagining literally in your mind. Bow, my channel, connecting the heart and the womb. And you can also feel in those two centers that you're breathing almost like a wave, starting with a belly and then ending in the heart and going back and forth, oscillating.

So start to imagine almost like a figure eight. Connecting the two. As we know, since we process [00:09:00] so much of our emotions physically, exercise and movement can have a very profound effect on our emotions. So even though it feels like it's all mental, a lot of it is also physical. So doing movements like belly dancing, kundalini yoga, anything that moves around the hips or even creative dancing, can really shift us into this creative energy that is held in our womb, in Vedic traditions.

It's known that that second center, which is the sacred chakra or where the womb is, is considered to be a real creative state. And if we think about it physically, it is a creative state because that is where we hold new creations. And it's also very much linked to our energetic creativity. So doing things like dancing or even engaging in creative acts like painting.

Cooking or anything that really requires us to be creative. So think any kind of ideas, new ideas, writing things down, those are all creative things. It doesn't necessarily have to be just art, [00:10:00] and you can literally write a letter to your womb directly and say what it is that you want to feel. What it is that you want for your womb.

By doing that, you are creating an intention and a connection, and sometimes you can even write things that have hurt your heart and you could just release that and have this connection and make that so it doesn't have to seem like such a mystery really, or something that is so disconnected. You can connect to your body, you're.

Are already connected to your body. It's just a matter of reconnecting those forces and that energy. Something else that I always suggest is doing the meta meditation, which is the meditation where it is cultivating loving kindness, and it really starts with yourself. It starts with loving yourself and wishing yourself well, and then wishing.

Your loved ones well, and then going into people that you really like and wishing them well, and then on and on until it gets to the point where it's people that have hurt you, wishing them well. And this is an incredibly healing [00:11:00] practice. And I would say start with yourself and then your loved ones and the people you like, and maybe people that you're neutral to.

And stop there if you've been really hurt. And eventually when you feel strong enough, you can continue on to the people who have hurt you. While this might be a really difficult thing to do, it is incredibly powerful and healing the idea of forgiveness has tremendous healing benefits for the body, and this is one of the ways that we can do that is really connect to that.

And forgiveness doesn't just end with people. It could be also forgiving yourself. I know a lot of people that I've worked with. They've said this, they've said that they felt that their body was failing them. And while this is completely valid, we know that this is one perspective and it's important to really honor the body because the body doesn't try to fail you.

It gives you signs that something is needed or something is missing. So connecting with that and really having that compassion and that self-compassion and really giving yourself that love [00:12:00] is incredibly, incredibly healing. So I hope this episode spoke to you on some level because I know that the energetic aspect of fertility is often easy to miss because we get so bombarded with so much information, lots of to-dos, and sometimes the last thing that we can think about.

Is really the energetics of our body and what our body is really communicating to us. So I hope this inspired more of a connection with your womb and really seeing it as a creative center that can support your fertility journey. So thank you so much for tuning in today, and I'll see you next time. [00:13:00] [00:14:00]
