Ep 405: How this Unique Molecule Can Support Mitochondrial Health, Hormones, and Fertility w/ Ken Swartz
On this episode of The Wholesome Fertility Podcast, I sit down with Ken Swartz, also known as Ken the Scientist, to explore a molecule that has quietly become one of the most fascinating topics in cellular health: Carbon 60, or C60.
Ken shares his origin story, from directing a fusion research project to discovering C60 as a radiation protectant, and the unexpected shift in his own health that redirected the course of his work. We talk about what C60 actually is, a naturally occurring carbon molecule found in meteorite impacts and formed in the atmospheres of stars, and how it works at the level of the mitochondria, the tiny engines that power every cell in the body.
From a fertility perspective, this conversation feels especially relevant. Ken explains how mitochondrial function connects to egg and sperm health, hormone production, inflammation, and metabolic balance, all areas that matter deeply when you are trying to conceive. We also explore the beautiful overlap with Chinese medicine and the way it understands Qi, the vital energy that moves through the body.
Whether you are on your own path to conception or simply love understanding how the body works, this episode offers a grounded, science-based look at cellular health and why it matters. As always, this is a conversation meant to inform and support you, never to replace the guidance of your own care team.
Key Takeaways:
C60 is a naturally occurring molecule made of 60 carbon atoms. It forms in nature through meteorite impacts, lightning strikes, and the atmospheres of red stars, and is often described as one of the earliest antioxidants of life.
It works at the cellular level as an SOD and catalase mimic, supporting the mitochondria, the energy centers inside your cells.
Healthy mitochondria influence nearly everything: energy, hormone production, inflammation, and the quality of eggs and sperm.
Because hormone precursors are made in the mitochondria, supporting mitochondrial function may help the whole endocrine system work more efficiently, which can matter for cycle regularity and fertility.
Ken shares anecdotal reports connected to fertility, including unexpected pregnancies and healthy babies born to women in their 40s.
C60 is not a cure and does not replace the basics. Nourishing food, clean water, rest, and nervous system care still do the foundational work. Ken describes it as one supportive tool in the toolkit.
Purity and testing matter. Ken notes that many supplements are mislabeled, so third-party tested, high purity sourcing is essential.
Guest Bio:
Ken Swartz, known as Ken the Scientist, was working on radiation and fusion research when he experienced a result that did not fit the science he trusted. With a background in economics, education, and leading multiple research laboratories, his work led him into projects connected to radiation and the MOXY fusion reactor.
During that time, he began using Carbon 60 as a radiation protectant, something he already understood from earlier scientific research. A few months in, he started noticing unexpected shifts in his energy and overall health. About eight months later, a routine eye exam revealed that a previously identified age-related vision issue was no longer visible, something his optometrist had never seen before.
That moment, in 2016, led Ken to dedicate his work to the research, study, and production of Carbon 60. Today he is co-founder of C60 Power, a company focused on producing high purity C60 using certified organic oils and a clean, solvent-free process. At the core of his work is a simple belief: your health is your responsibility, and people have more influence over how they feel and function than they have been led to believe.

[00:00:00]
Michelle: Welcome to the podcast, Ken
Kenneth: Oh, glad to be on your, uh, wholesome fertility podcast, and I think, will be some information that your audience will find useful
Michelle: Yes, and interesting. so I was reading a little bit more about, what you are working with, and I'm very excited to actually dive in. But before we get started, I always like to start with an origin story so people can get to know you and what got you into the work that you're doing.
Kenneth: Well, it was actually, I was working on the metal oxygen fusion reactor project when I was directing it. And the problem was we, there was a lot of, uh, late PhDs and, professors kind of associated with this research, and we thought it was radiation related. So, you know, it's research, right? We don't really know what's going on in a lot of ways.
So, uh, I went out looking for an extra radiation protection, and I came across This stuff called Carbon 60, C60 for short, and it's a carbon molecule of 60 atoms. Let me grab it. [00:01:00] Uh Should have got it earlier, but here it is, It's like
Michelle: This is, um, so, so for people listening on the audio, you guys can, um, look for this in YouTube, but go ahead and show 'cause we do
Kenneth: imagine a tiny soccer ball of 60 carbon atoms. It's ex- exactly like a little hollow soccer ball. And, and they g- did some experiments. They gave one set of rats got C60, the other set didn't. And, then they hit them with a fatal dose of radiation, and the 60 rats, C60 rats lived where the control group died.
And so that's kind of started it. And,, I got crew and myself, and we, we're all still around, by the way. And, but what happened is I kept taking it afterwards. And, about seven months after I'd taken C60, I went to see my optometrist for my annual checkup. And I'd had macular degeneration, right, for years, and it was slowly progressing.
Sure, I was taking the lanthins and the zeanthins and all that kind of stuff, but, you know, it was getting a little bit more every year. And, my eye doctor was surprised because it had completely disappeared [00:02:00]
Michelle: Wow
Kenneth: And, considering that concept, you know, that happened to me. But 'cause one thing's just a fluke, right?
If you're a scientist, you know, it could just happen. So I made, in the meantime, my electrical engineer on the project, Gary Rodriguez, he had developed severe wet macular degeneration, kind of because he also had type 2 diabetes. So I put a, uh, I made C60 in MCT oil, which some of your audience may know, MCTs, medium-chain triglycerides, can be turned into ketones by your body really quickly, and that's important if you have glucose processing issues.
And he took a tablespoon a month, a day for 15 months, and his severe wet macular degeneration went away, and his type 2 diabetes went subclinical.
Michelle: Wow
Kenneth: So that kind of cinched it for me. So I started making it for friends, family, and myself, because, you know, going blind sucks, so having an alternative is really good.
And I shared it with some of my, uh, like alternative healthcare professionals, and they had great results with themselves and their patients. and So I was sort of like a C60 milkman driving up and down the [00:03:00] Front Range here delivering product until one day a, uh, an internet influencer mentioned it, how it saved his and his wife's life on the internet, and of course, sales blew up.
And, and that actually, that not just created my company, but really created the C60 business in general. So that was like the 100th monkey event, which sort of brought C60 into pu- public awareness and, uh, the whole market itself.
Michelle: So the whole idea of C60 is very interesting. they consider it like stardust, I was reading, and I think that that's pretty cool.
Kenneth: it's made in nature. You'll find it, like, in meteoritic impacts and lightning strikes on trees. It's made in the giant atmospheres of red stars. That's actually the guys Harry Kroto, Robert Curl, and Richard Smalley actually proved that in 1985, and then they got a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1996.
And then, uh, then when they started testing, it was kind of hard to make, so in fact, our C60 is made by the same guys that, you know, that Harry Kroto and Robert Curl and Richard Smalley taught, right? They worked together. [00:04:00] and then like, one of the early tests was the Bottri study, and it was on rats and, uh, it actually increased the lifespan of rats by 90% controls.
So that kind of what is the big thing that kind of brought it, and then it, it moved on from there. There's dozens and dozens of studies. If you want to learn more, there's a website, whatisc60.org. Sort of 50C3s that we support and some other C60 companies support because it kind of gets the information out there.
'Cause as a, you know, a retail outlet kind of thing, what we are, we can't, you know, talk about certain things, right? Animal studies don't correspond to human studies, so we can't really talk about it. But whatisc60.org can, uh, you can go and you can see all the different things and, and learn a lot, a lot about C60.
They have the articles. They have links to the articles
Michelle: I'll put that on the show notes. So what is it? I don't know
Kenneth: w-what is 360.org?
Michelle: So interesting. So it looks like there's a lot of benefits, but it looks like a lot of it is kind of being discovered as we go. [00:05:00] Like it's-- So do you know the mechanism of action or how it really
Kenneth: I'm actually one of the people that figured it out. But I think even for your listening audience really, but, they'd probably be interested is results, and our, our CEO Jess just had her first baby at 49.
Michelle: Wow.
Kenneth: Yeah. So, that's-
Michelle: let's talk about that. How does it impact... Like, what are the impacts that it has on fertility?
Kenneth: Well, the key thing is C60 is what is called a superoxide dismutase catalase mimic. So it's gonna-- You take it, usually take it internally, uh, you know, dr- drink it, and, uh, it comes in an oil, it's non-polar. Uh, and, and then it, it'll, it'll pass your gut barrier, go into your bloodstream, then pass the blood-brain barrier into your, into your, you know, everywhere.
And, uh, and then it's uptaken in your cells by endocytosis, and then your mito- mitochondria, where it acts as an SOD catalase mimic. And that's really important because there's basically four key antioxidants in the Krebs cycle. That's what makes your mitochondria work. And, uh, and, and one is CoQ10. You can [00:06:00] supplement for that.
Most people do. Another is, uh, glutathione. There's liposomal, transdermal, there's a bunch of ways to do that. But there is nothing for superoxide dismutase and catalase until C60 came along, and C60 is a mimic that does the job of both of those in one shot. So when you... Like, we have a lot, dozens of doctors which use our products as a protocol for their patients, and they basically, for the key, you know, the key antioxidants, endogenous ones, they get them on CoQ10, glutathione, and then the C60 covering SOD and catalase.
Because, you know, there's-- You-- Even if you put SOD in your bloodstream, there's no way to uptake it into your cells. The s- the cells make s- SOD and catalase, uh, internally, and then they sometimes they'll excrete it out of the cells into the surrounding environment to reduce inflammation and oxidative damage, but there's no intake mechanism.
So there was, that was always a gap in people's protocols until C60 came along. It's a mimic that does the job of both SOD and s- and catalase in one [00:07:00] step, and that kind of fills that slot. And when your mitochondria are healthy, then, your cells are healthy, and then you get all these amazing benefits.
Like in my case, you know, it fixed my retina. In Jess's case , she had a baby at 49. So, uh, that's that's the kind of, thing that C60 can do.
Michelle: That's phenomenal. Okay, so now how long does it take for you to really, like for your body to get the impacts
Kenneth: Okay. Well, there's several-- Yeah, there's several steps. Like when you take it right away, within the first week, you're gonna get more energy and better mental focus. I mean, that's the things that I've noticed when I was taking it and why I kept doing it?
And that's just basically ramping up your mitochondria, getting things going.
But then as you-- over time, as you take it, you get other added benefits because, you know, C60 just doesn't protect the, or just doesn't help the mitochondria. It also protects the endoplasmic reticulum, and that's where all the proteins and neurotransmitters, that's where, you know, the little factories, and so that's protected.
So now stuff can be built and then be taken and put up. And, uh, [00:08:00] it also, C60 gets rid of, uh, general inflammation in your body, and that's a good, 'cause it, it's, it really works with the superoxide ion and the hydroxyl ion, and those are the two most damaging oxidative radicals in the body. But I should probably bring in this other thing.
The other thing is it doesn't interfere with the body's signaling molecules. You have oxidative radicals in your body that your body-- are critical to body function, like nitrogen oxide, that's a vasodilator,
Michelle: Mm-hmm.
Kenneth: hydrogen peroxide, and then there's some others based around sulfur, iron, and zinc. And, uh, and these kind-- these are oxidative radicals, but they're kind of critical to, to, you know, regulating.
So see, they're not, oxidative radicals are not all bad. Excesses amounts and certain ones are bad, but you still need them. C60 doesn't interfere with that. They've taken it, they've actually done studies where they gave animals, rats, a 10,000 times the health beneficial dose,
and there was no toxicity at all.
Michelle: Okay. So, yeah, that was another question I was gonna ask. Is a...
Kenneth: toxicity at all, but there are some counter indicators. Obviously, the other thing is [00:09:00] like the unexpected pregnancies. Uh, we have like dozens and dozens of C60 babies. so that, that's, Yeah. that's a common thing,
Michelle: my listeners are gonna love this.
Kenneth: from that, so yeah, we have, uh, yeah, Elza, she's a friend of ours. She's, she's done stuff.
You will see some of her advertisements on our products. She says she has two C60 babies now. So, she didn't think she could get younger, got together with
Michelle: And so people who have, has str- have struggled to conceive
Kenneth: yeah, she's in her 40s. Yeah. Yeah, so
Michelle: And so you would say it takes about a week to really feel the
Kenneth: but the long-term effects?
like my macular degeneration took at least seven months. Gary's took like 15 months, 'cause we were actually taking it, uh, taking... He had pictures. He'd go in like every three months, and they'd take pictures of the eyeball, so we actually have the, the whole progression of that.
So I mean, anything that takes a long time to be a problem is not gonna be fixed overnight. And, uh, but, but things that you didn't think could be fixed can be, and it's really, it's, it's really once your mitochondria are restored to function. Like for instance, we had a lady [00:10:00] came into us, she was kind of desperate.
She'd gone to her doctor and discovered that she'd had 30% kidney loss function, and then her nephrologist was telling her, "There's nothing you can do until you need a transplant." So she came to us. We didn't know if it would help or not. So she took, she got C60. She went in three months later, 100% kidney function.
Because the problem wasn't a kidney problem, it was probably a mitochondria problem, oxidative burden problem, and once the oxidative burden and the mitochondria started functioning, then the underlying case went away. And so, and then there's a few other interesting things that happened, 'cause people that, uh, that take C60 for years actually have increased telomere length, and telomeres are like a, a le- a measurement of aging.
And usually, you know, you do the mouth swab, and you take in tons of it. Well, it was kind of hard. We didn't-- It was, this is kind of a still out story, and we've-- They finally figured out what happened. It started with a, basically a test of, an experiment with rabbits in Japan, and C60 is well known as an anti-inflammatory, right?
That's one of the [00:11:00] key things. And so they, they gave rabbits arthritis, and then they, uh, and then they injected C60 into the joints, and the inflammation went down, and that isn't surprising. That's actually what the researchers expected it would do. But when they, you know, sacrificed the rabbit and, and disc- and looked at the joints, they actually discovered that this, the cartilage had regrown
Michelle: Mm-hmm.
Kenneth: And so it didn't just get rid of the inflammation.
And then from there, they found that C60 causes what's called apoptosis in senescent cells.
Michelle: Mm-hmm.
Kenneth: Senescent cells, they're kind of like zombie cells in your body. They're not functioning. And, and one of the things senescent cells, cancer is a- another part of that, that they, they don't-- they go into the fermentation mode, Right. Because usually our cells burn oxygen, sugar and oxygen in the Krebs cycle, they burn that very efficiently. But when they go senescent, they kind of go primitive and they burn, they do the fermentation mode. So they're poisoning the cells around them, and they're using a lot of energy and not really doing anything.
So what-- when you take C60, C60 goes into senescent cells. It restarts that Krebs cycle, you know, the oxygen burning in [00:12:00] the mitochondria. And the mitochondria have their own DNA, and they'll send messages to the nuclear DNA, the main DNA of the cell, and they won't get the Right
message back in senescent cells.
And so the mitochondria blow themselves up and cause apoptosis and-- which is, uh, programmed cell death. And then those, those zombie cells go away. And now the cells or tissues in your-- you don't have enough cells or tissues, so that stimulates a huge increase in stem cells. So the result is you get a giant increase in stem cells and, uh, and then you get the resulting healing.
Um, and that's... Well, actually, the very first human study for C60 was they actually made a cream for Japanese women, and they put it, they put it on, and they found that it reduced lines and wrinkles in Japanese women. And they, they didn't know exactly why, but now we know why because they have-- it causes increase in stem cells.
And if you have more stem cells, when your skin turns over, you have more cells, So the wrinkles and lines become less
Michelle: So interesting. And what other studies have they found? I know a lot of it is [00:13:00] not on humans, but I still wanna hear.
Kenneth: Okay. Well, first off,
Michelle: and, a lot of people listening to this, um, of course, are trying to conceive, but there's also practitioners like me that just like to nerd out on this information, so
Kenneth: Well, okay, I'll do that. So I, I mentioned a few, but basically we had that botry study with the rats. Now, that rat study took five and a half years, right? And they didn't really know what was going on, but eventually they discovered, you know, it was a, it was a SOD catalase mimic. So, uh, they also did another study during that time, different group of people, after they knew it was an SOD catalase mimic, and, uh, they used...
Well, the, 'cause the botry study used Wistar rats. Now, Wistar rats are kinda like wimpy rats, 'cause if you're looking for toxicity and stuff, you kinda want wimpy rats. You don't want street rats that are tough, right? So th- this other study used wild-type mice, and that's more characteristic of people, right?
Wild-type people. And in that study, they found that it increased the lifespan of wild-type mice by 11% and completely prevented cognitive decline during aging.
Michelle: Amazing
Kenneth: Yeah, and if you go to the what is... I think it's [00:14:00] even on our studies, but you... Also the whatisc60.org site, they have a study where they did a study where they put like nerve cells in test tubes, you know, two sets of controls, the C60 nerve cells, and then they exposed them to a variety of environmental toxins, and the nerve cells that had the C60 resisted damage, whereas the control group, of course, got massively damaged.
So, and so that's-- And then there's just the whatisc60.org, just all kinds of studies like that. But it's basically C60 works at the cellular level and, and that's, you know, making the mitochondria work better, getting rid of, you know, s- inflammation throughout the body. Uh, it's, it's, it's... And so it's pretty much the same even though, you know, animals and humans, because it's at the cellular level, and it's not particular to any one creature, right?
So it's, it's, it's, that's kind of its, its, uh, specialty there.
Michelle: It's really fascinating. And you had mentioned that, um, it, it's really rare or it seems like it doesn't really cause toxicity in higher amounts. [00:15:00] Um, so what would you say is a good dosage or recommended dosage for people to take?
Kenneth: Well, if, if you're looking for fertility, I do-- I'm not a medical doctor, I cannot give medical advice, but it'd be like a tablespoon a day.
Michelle: A tablespoon
Kenneth: about A tablespoon
Uh, most, if you're younger, like a teaspoon a day is enough. But if you're working on something, a little bit more. But for a couple tablespoons, you're not gonna get, uh, any added benefit of that because it's, you know, it gets in, it goes in your mitochondria, goes throughout the body, does what it does.
But it doesn't make any permanent chemical bonds, so it washes out something like four to 10 days after you take it. But, you know, it's, it's-- the key is that mitochondria function. If you restore good mitochondria function, lower your inflammation, then you can get a lot of, great health benefits from that
Michelle: So you would say a tablespoon a day on an empty stomach?
What's
Kenneth: doesn't really matter
You can, you
Michelle: really matter
Kenneth: take it on an empty stomach. Like our products, we basically, we're the first ones to do this 'cause we're the first ones to do everything. But we put it like in, uh... Originally, [00:16:00] most everything was in olive oil, but olive oil's pretty strong. Some people don't like it, so we put it in avocado oil, which is an easily digestible oil and doesn't really have that, you know, the bite that olive oil has.
And we also put it, like, uh, for Gary, uh, we put it into the MCT oil, and That's you know, for people with processing and athletes. We have a lot of athletes really have, uh, had amazing things with C60. And we also have our C60 gummies, and they're actually in whole coconut oil and pectin. So they're not really gummies, they're actually fruities 'cause they have pectin, comes from plants.
Gummies, you know, gelatin comes from animals, so, so it's I guess vegan or whatever you wanna call it. And it's all yours
Michelle: That's great for the vegans out there. And every gummy, is that, equate to a
Kenneth: About two. You probably want to be taking about two gummies a day.
Michelle: Two gummies a day
Kenneth: create three years' growth. And that's 'cause, you know, They taste good and they're, it's
Michelle: They do taste good. I tried them.
Kenneth: Oh, Yeah Yeah, it's an easy delivery method too. And so we, we've had a lot of success with, uh, people with, you know
Michelle: And they're, they're zero sugar. No sugar
Kenneth: Yeah. No, [00:17:00] yeah, we use allulose in Monk Fruit. Yeah
that's it. Keeps it, keeps it down there. And it's, it's just one of those things because... And, and also some of our products, like we're the only C60 company that third party tests our products. So I don't know if your guests may not be able to see it, but in all of our products you'll always come
Michelle: Yes, I saw that
Kenneth: Yeah, we have a QR code, so you can just
Michelle: I love that
Kenneth: scan the QR code, go to your expiration date, you can look at your batch, and so you can know it's safe and effective, right? For concentration of microbiotics. We know, we know we have the highest concentration because we're the only ones that
test. But, uh, we've gone out there and like tested everybody in the market.
We have 99.99% pure C60 is what you want. We also use sublimated C60, which is like human grade. But, uh, Yeah
just have to be careful out there because like we tested all of our competitors too, and like 40% of them have like no C60 in, in their products.
Michelle: Really?
Kenneth: Oh yeah, 30% have like insufficient amounts. So you're only doing...
But this isn't a problem just with the C60 market, it's with any supplement business out of [00:18:00] there. There's just
Michelle: dozen third-party tests.
Kenneth: Yeah, third party test, just You gotta do that and in your supplements because, uh, Yeah
you just don't know unless you got somebody to test it
Michelle: Yeah, absolutely. And as far as, um, how long you can take it indefinitely, is it
Kenneth: Oh, happily. I'm, I'm actually probably the, the-- I'm probably the one of the people in the world that's been taking it the longest. I just turned 55. So yeah, so it's, it's, it's, uh, yeah, for the, the rat studies, even some of the rat studies after they got rid of controls, they stopped giving it, and the rats kept living longer.
But really, it's just one of those things when you get... Most of our stuff, our people are in the gray-haired crowd.
Michelle: Mm-hmm
Kenneth: As you get, as you get older, your-- the antioxidants your body endogenously produces, like CoQ10 and glutathione and SOD and catalase, they just generally go down, Right with aging, with a lot of things. Some people have genetic alleles that they go down faster than others. And so when C60 goes and takes and replaces that, uh, that special SOD spot. But you still need your [00:19:00] glutathione. You'll still need your CoQ10. You still need to supplement. You eat healthy organic foods, drink clean water, you know, stay out of toxic environmental situations and all that kind of stuff.
You know, that C60 does not replace anything that you're taking. It just kind of fills a very s-special spot. It's like one tool in the toolkit for good health, but it's an important tool
Michelle: Yeah. And then as far as, um, you know, people trying to conceive, is it safe in pregnancy?
Kenneth: okay, all I can say is they don't have, quote, "All the double animal studies you've tested." I mean, we have dozens of, uh, C60 babies, and there, there's never been a problem. It's just, it's just that Jess just had hers, and she took C60 all the time. It's just one of those things.
Michelle: Like w- during her pregnancy
Kenneth: Yeah, because it has no toxicity at any level. It just
Michelle: But again, always speak to your doctor before taking
Kenneth: In fact, I always speak to your doctor. It has no toxicity level. It's, uh, it only interacts with two things in your body, the superoxide ion, that's an oxygen with an extra electron, and if you're looking for oxidative damage, that's what really does it, [00:20:00] and the other is the hydroxyl ion, and they found a study, and that's all it interacts with.
It doesn't interact with any medicines, any minerals, any nutrients. It's--
Michelle: So no contraindications with medications or
Kenneth: Well, there, well, there is contraindications, like for instance, if you're on blood
Michelle: Uh-huh
Kenneth: thinners. Blood thinner is your basically blood is, quote, "thick," that, but that's a medical term, because your mineral corticoid production in your adrenal glands is insufficient.
It's not getting the job done. So when you take C60, C60 will, can restart your, your, uh, endocrine. 'Cause basically what happens is your mitochondria, they don't just make ATP, they also make pregnenolone, the precursor hormone for all-- the precursor molecule for all the hormones. So when you're taking C60 and you get the mitochondria going in your endocrine cells, which are the cells with the highest level of mitochondria in them, you know, you're gonna get more melatonin out of your pineal gland, more human growth hormone and other things out of the pituitary hypothalamus complex, more T3 and T4 out of your [00:21:00] and stuff, your thyroid, and, uh, also, you know, your adrenals will restart.
And your adrenals make androgens, which then your body converts into testosterone or estrogen or progesterone or whatever it is. You're gonna get more of that. But it also does the mineral corticoids, which, you know... And so if you're taking a blood thinner, now the s- underlying cause that your blood was, quote, "thick," has gone away, and if you're taking blood thinners, now your blood's too thin.
And then there's also glu-glut-glucocorticoids, which are the ones that regulate blood sugar, which probably explains, you know, 'cause Gary isn't the only person that had like, you know, type 2 diabetes go down, uh, significantly. And, and in the hormone level, like we had like, this is a typical thing. We have a 70-year-old guy, he comes, he went to his doctor.
He had testosterone at 350, so that's kinda low. So his doctor puts him on his creams. He's up into the mid-700s. He takes C60, he's up into 1200s. So the doctor backs him off his creams, right? And so, and that's probably one of the reasons, 'cause when you take C60, you know, you're gonna-- all your endocrine cells or your [00:22:00] endocrine system are now gonna be functioning the way that they're meant to be.
So you're gonna-- your hormone levels rise. But not just one, all hormones across the board in your body. And, and also the i-underlying inflammation that your body has goes down, and that's another thing that causes, you know, dysregulation of, let's say, the menstrual cycle. Not that I'm a medical doctor and can't give medical advice, but all of that stuff.
So just it gets that underlying base like balanced and functioning, and then whatever you do on top of that is just gonna be more effective
Michelle: Interesting. And then y- of course, there's so many different factors for fertility. Like, one of the things happens to be insulin resistance in some cases. So metabolic health, it sounds like when you were talking about the type 2 di- diabetes, it works on metabolic like, or insulin sensitivity?
Kenneth: Yeah, it's, here's to do that. It's, uh, from this, it's, it's a pretty common side effect is that, uh, like Gary's run,
Michelle: That's a good
Kenneth: Gary's, yeah, yeah, Gary's, you know, type 2 diabetes went
Michelle: [00:23:00] Mm-hmm.
Kenneth: Like he didn't have to take medicine anymore, but he still has to follow the diet and do all those other things. So it's
Michelle: Right. So it's supplemental.
Kenneth: C60 is not a magic cure.
It just fixes that, that little segment in your mitochondria function and your body in general 'cause it's like... key antioxidants. And, uh, and so it doesn't replaces it, replace anything. It's just an addition to whatever you're doing, but it's pretty important if you've got a problem in that area
Michelle: Yeah, it's interesting because as you're talking about it, um, looking at it from a Chinese medicine lens, and it works a lot on the qi. You know, it really kind of like, it, it revitalizes the qi. Like really ultimately, uh, when we talk about Chinese medicine, uh, as a practitioner, I'm not doing the job, it's actually the body.
We're just facilitating, a way for the qi to move more freely, whether that's through herbs or through acupuncture and kind of like, um, jumpstarting that. So we say the same thing. We say like, "You still have to eat the right foods. You still have to do your homework and like live a really [00:24:00] good life," but this is kind of like an extra reinforcement and help.
But it sounds similar. It sounds kind of like what C60 is doing is getting that mitochondria working, which really is kind of like qi, you know, um, explained in Western medicine or kind of conventional medicine. And it's pretty wild that they see it as almost something that came out, from out of s- out of space.
Kenneth: Yeah, well, it was originally, you know, they're, they actually think it was the original antioxidant of life 'cause it's made in meteoric impacts and it's hydrophobic, so it floats, but it's lipophilic, so it attracts early fats. And if you were to, like, really cool things down to super cold, C60 would fit exactly in the groove of the RNA molecule and the side groove of the DNA molecule.
And they believe it's the original scaffolding upon which RNA and DNA chemistry formed. That's why it has no toxicity at other lev- at any levels, and it does the job of superoxide dismutase and catalase in one step because it was the [00:25:00] original antioxidant of life
Michelle: That's so fascinating. And then to think about how it, targets mitochondria, and mitochondria is sort of alien in a sense to the body 'cause it has a different set of genetic, composition. So it's, it doesn't have our genes. So it's almost like this other force that's helping us out.
Kenneth: Yeah, I guess they're symbiotic bacteroids or something and, you know, that, that, there's a whole story that you'd wanna research. Yeah, but it works there, so it
Michelle: Really fascinating
Kenneth: It's just everything just works a little bit better with C60 and, and I mean, for, for most of the thing, it was the gray hair crowd 'cause as you get older, you know how everything takes a little longer to do and, and you get the aches and pains, and C60 really helps with getting rid of those aches and pains and improving mental performance.
It's been shown that in animal studies to do that a whole lot. I mean, there's just tons of, there's just lots and lots of research. But one of the things is you haven't probably heard of C60 or you're guessing 'cause it's, it, you can't patent nature.
Michelle: Yeah
Kenneth: C60 is a part of nature. You can't patent vitamin C or vitamin D or [00:26:00] any of those other natural things. Yeah
So you can't, you know, there's gonna be no big promotions out there, uh, because it's essentially it's a
Michelle: Or paid studies by corporations. Yeah.
Kenneth: Most of the studies have been done by universities and, and other organizations in, of that type who are really just looking for, you know, research and learning, not working for some giant pharmaceutical company that's out looking for a profit
Michelle: Yeah, for sure. And then as far as, autoimmune conditions, have you, are there any studies on how it can impact that?
Kenneth: Well, it appears to help. I mean, I, I will just say this is the anecdotals that we have. Like, one of the common things is, well, for instance, one of the person work- works with us, not gonna say her name, but anyway, she had had Hashimoto's
since like her late 20s, and she had like zero function in her thyroid.
And she started taking C60, and she started getting like weird effects. She went to the doctor, you know, look at the thyroid, and the thyroid had started working again. And they took her off a [00:27:00] third of the medicine, and then it was... I mean, this was after like almost a year, and then she was off like a half, and it's slowly happening.
What we think what's happening is the thyroid was, of course, was damaged by Hashimoto's, is an anti- is like an immune malfunction, right? It's an autoimmune
Michelle: attacked. Yeah
Kenneth: And so it damaged the cells of the thyroid. But what happened is that C60 goes in there, causes apoptosis of senescent cells.
Michelle: Mm-hmm
Kenneth: So C60 wiped out those senescent cells, and then those senescent cells were replaced by stem cells, which are like little baby cells.
They have a whole set of DNA, they're not damaged, and they started working and, and filling that up. Now, they've done some studies like with mast cells, and they're the, they're the immune cells that produce histamines, Right
That gives you the... And they found that C60 reduces Well, they, they gave animals would have the anaphylaxis, the toxic shock, anaphylaxis
Michelle: yeah, yeah, yeah
Kenneth: Uh, the, the allergic reaction, you know, that you get massive allergic reaction.
And so that they found wh- when they gave C60 in mast cells, moderated the release of the [00:28:00] histamines. And in animals, it, like prevented animals from going into that Anaphylactic. shock,
Michelle: Mm-hmm.
Kenneth: kind of. It just, it just moderated. But probably what it was
Michelle: Yeah. So like, so it basically sounds like it has an immunomodulating
Kenneth: Yeah
it, Yeah
it does. It just makes the immune cells work more efficiently. And so instead of going off and, you know, just going off and doing things, that because their mitochondria are working correctly, they have enough ATP, all the cellular chemistry in your immune cells can now work.
And, uh, and also, Yeah
'cause it, it, like, co-completely eliminated, you know, the inflammation in those arthritic rabbits, but it also repaired the cartilage. So it kind of just... It's almost like a homeostasis kind of thing. It drives everything back to homeostasis, the way-- to a function the way it is. Because a lot of these autoimmune diseases and the other things, they happen as you get older, right?
It kind of comes on as you get older, and that's probably happening because maybe, you know, your mitochondria or your general cellular chemistry, meta-me-metabolism is not working the way it should be, And and that's what it [00:29:00] comes with age. And then when C60 kind of reverses that process, and so now things start working the way they should have been in-instead of getting, you know, instead of what happens when you get older
Michelle: And then you were, mentioned kind of quickly about gut health
Kenneth: Oh, yeah. Well, that's the part of the thing was, I mentioned before, like the, the Japanese ladies that reduce lines and wrinkles in the skin. Well, the skin is an ectodermal tissue, and your gut is ectoderm. It's the same sort of tissue as the skin. So we've had lots of people with irritable bowel syndrome and, and various others, Crohn's and stuff, have great relief with C60.
Their conditions does not go away completely, but it becomes much more manageable. 'Cause what happens is we think a lot of that is if you have more stem cells in your gut, then, you know, issue- gut issues as the-- 'cause the gut turns over like every day.
Michelle: Mm-hmm.
Kenneth: So if you have more stem cells, then it turns over more completely and you don't get like, you don't ha- you get less leakage, right?
The leaky gut syndrome, it's basically saying your gut is n- has holes in it. It's leaking stuff from your intestine into [00:30:00] your bloodstream, and that's causing inflammation. So we know it reduces inflammation. We know it's, uh, it kind of helps that stem cell turnover. And So lot, yeah, a lot of
Michelle: it helps build that lining
Kenneth: build the lining and, it kind of just balances out and makes it better because we've had...
Yeah, their conditions don't go away, but they just become much more manageable
Michelle: So fascinating. Really interesting. So I do, just so the listeners know, um, I do have a link to getting this on the episode notes on, um, to getting the products, and you guys have lots of products. You
have...
Kenneth: yes. Uh, Yeah shop, shopc60.com. Yes, 'cause we actually, our Jess, our CEO, developed like a, a, well, there we are, h- a pair of some fa- fa- skincare products, and they're, they're really effective 'cause,
Michelle: it's internal and then external,
Kenneth: external as well. So yeah, we have like a, we have a, uh, youth renewal cream and eye cream, and that like goes underneath the eyes with that...
You've got the copper peptides. it's got all the [00:31:00] wonderful things plus a C60 base. and then we have an anti-gravity serum for the face, and it's already, C60's already been scientifically proven to reduce lines and wrinkles, so it's, it's got that base. It's, but with all the, it's, but it's got all the other stuff that, that, uh, you know, are, are go with good, uh, facial
Michelle: But yeah, so I have a link, uh, for that and I also have, um, you guys gave us very generously a coupon code so people can put WHOLESOME to get 10% off really anything on the website So, awesome. And then is there anything else that I missed?
Kenneth: Oh, I'm sure, well, there's, well, there's so many studies and things. It's, but it, you know, it just, it's a, you know, basically it's, it's, you know, for some people might be interested to go into it right now, but for other people, there's the whatisc60.org, so you can go study that and learn it for yourself, because, you know, you need re- you nearly need to be your second opinion or whatever else on any health issue we have.
And of course, we've got 99.9%, which is the highest purity, sublimated 'cause which [00:32:00] is, uh, that's human quality. There's an industrial C60 That's made out of methylbenzene. You don't want that. And, uh, and of course we have third-party verification, which is we're the only company. So we just try to, you know, 'cause our family and our spouses, we use it, so we just try to make the best product we can because, you know, it's, it's, it's what we do
Michelle: Fantastic. Well, um, thank you so much, Kenneth. Uh, this was great. It was a great conversation. I think people are gonna be really fascinated by this and definitely be checking out. Um, I'll link all of the information, including the whatisc60.org, so people can find out a little bit more. I think I'll be nerding out on that a little myself.
So thank you so much, Ken, for joining us today and sharing this great information.
Kenneth: Oh, glad to be on
